Training your eyes to spot enemy vehicles is one of the many extremely important skills that need to be learned in this game. If they can see you to shoot you, there is an almost 100% chance that if you were looking in their direction you would be able to see them as well, its not their or the games fault that you couldnt spot them through foliage or what have you. If you have a line of sight to their position, they will always be rendered and visible whether they are 200m away or 2km away (minus some *very* rare occasional derps from the server) The game only wont render vehicles occasionally when you "arent supposed" to be able to see them in situations when they are say a long distance away and behind hard cover. If you should be able to see them you can see them. I think the game would be more fair if they make that, enemies cannot see me when I cannot see enemies. So yes, it is entirely possible the tank that shot him wasn't rendered for him if he had 0 Keen Vision skill in his crew. The game server only sends information of a vehicle that's concealed to the client when the player is at a minimal distance from the enemy. Increasing the skill increases the range of this. Apparently it will show you a small red arrow on the edge of your sights if your crew notices an enemy.
